HG PICKLEBALL 2024 ANNUAL MEETING MINUTES

The meeting was at the Rendezvous Bar and Grill on 19 Oct 2024.  A quorum was present.

 

1. The changes proposed by the Bylaw Committee and the current Officers were passed. The revised bylaws are posted on the HGPickle.org website by clicking the Bylaws button on the 3rd tab labeled HG Pickleball.

 

2. The Club wants to accommodate players of different skill levels by forming groups with similar abilities. We will use our own Heather Gardens levels (rather than using the DUPR ratings Where level 1 are rank beginners and level 5 are our best Heather Gardens players. The 5 levels are: 1 – Beginner 2 – Beginner/Intermediate 3 – Intermediate, 4 – Intermediate/Advanced, 5 – Advanced. The Club will soon conduct a Survey Monkey email asking you to self-select the level where you feel most comfortable playing.

 

3. The players at the Annual Meeting also discussed their desires for emailing or text messaging lists to facilitate groups could communicate with their group.

4. The following Officers were elected for 2025. Phil Hughes – President, VP – none at present so the Officers will appoint one in January, Treasure – Florie Laubacher, Secretary – Ron Hileman, Social Chair – Michael Greene. Vickie Rogers will back up Ron Hileman on the website.

5. Finances: The current bank balance is $1,507. The club has spent $1,065 so far in 2024 and may spend about $300 more this year for VJOOLA Pickleball Court Barrier (to reduce balls going between courts) and for more crack patching materials. Barriers and patch materials are on order, and we will be announcing work session in upcoming weekly Updates. The Dues will remain $20 for 2025.

 

6. Wearing of Name Tags has fallen off. The group feels that wearing names is desirable and should be routine.

 

7. Survey Coming: The group discussed ways to develop more skills by Drills, professional instruction classes either at Heather Gardens or at Pickleball sites away from HG that offer instruction.
